Thursday, July 26

Southeast’s Got Talent: Regional all-ages Talent Show, open to soloists or acts with multiple performers! Sing, dance, act, entertain–any talent qualifies (as long as it is safe and legal–no fire, no animals). $500 grand prize, plus a chance to compete in the statewide contest at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer.

Friday, July 27

Singer-Songwriter Competition: Enter your lyrics and score to the judges–winners earn a chance to perform on the Main Stage!

Saturday, July 28

Fair Parade: March in the parade or enter a creative float. This year’s Fair theme is “Fair Like There’s No Tomorrow.” Your imagination is the limit–entries will be judged!

Logging Show: A Fair favorite! Events for guys and gals. Axe-throwing, saw-bucking, log rolling, and much more!

Haines Hustle 5K, 10K, and Trail Half-Marathon: Start your Saturday right with a jog through the picturesque town of Haines in the 5K (map) or 10K (map), or take the challenging route over Mount Riley for the Trail Half-Marathon (map).

Fisherman’s Rodeo: Calling all Fisher-folk! This fun event features the survival-suit donning contest; fishing trivia; gear baiting and net mending contests, and more, right in Dalton City! Cash prizes…

Guy Hoffman Memorial Horseshoe Tournament: runs Saturday and Sunday outside at the Klondike Saloon. Men’s and Women’s singles and Mixed Doubles. Cash prizes!

Fiddle Contest: Tune your fiddle or violin and step up to compete on the Fair’s Main Stage! It’s a foot-stompin’ good time for contestants and fairgoers alike.

Most Lovable Dog Contest: This time-honored favorite starts with a march in the Fair parade (leashes, please!) and ends in Tlingit Park with judging of canine friends big and small, cute and ugly, in numerous categories–from serious to humorous!

Sunday, July 29

Volleyball Tournament: On the Fair’s own sand court! Games begin at noon. Call 766-2940 for information.
